Gurobi Announces DACH Subsidiary

Gurobi, Inc. has enjoyed very strong growth in the last year, particularly in the German speaking parts of Europe. As a result of this growth and because of a desire to increase our international footprint, we have decided to open a subsidiary. Gurobi GmbH will serve our customers in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), and will open its doors for business during the first week of March 2013.

As Managing Director for Gurobi GmbH we have been very lucky in attracting Dirk Zechiel, Dipl.-Informatiker, RWTH Aachen. After obtaining his degree in 1998, Dirk spent a total of ten years at ILOG Germany, the first seven years as an Account manager, after which he was promoted to the position of managing all of ILOG’s business in the DACH region. During his time at ILOG, Dirk was one of their top-performing sales people, selling CPLEX and JRules. He left ILOG in 2008 to join Red Hat, where he had been employed for over four years before accepting our offer to take over the management of Gurobi’s business in the DACH region.

Even as more and more companies around the world choose Gurobi as their preferred optimizer, our goals at Gurobi remain the same, including providing the best sales and technical support in the industry. While Gurobi GmbH will be starting off with a focus on sales, we expect in the very near term to be adding expert, local support resources, thus extending the reach of what is already the finest support team in the industry.
